1 Samuel 22:2 "And
every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one
that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain
over them: and there were with him about four hundred men."
Sometimes our protagonists
have to go out and find allies. They might look to family, friends, or even the
enemy of their enemies.
Sometimes, allies are just
waiting for an opportunity to join forces with someone. People like the men
David assembled are looking for a leader to gather their forces around.
Those allies could be
unpredictable with agendas of their own and cause trouble later in the story.
They might also be the most loyal and honorable of allies the protagonist might
ever want.
