1 Chronicles 11:19
"And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink
the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the
jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These
things did these three mightiest."
When someone sacrifices
for us, there doesn’t seem to be a good enough way to honor them. Mother’s Day,
Father’s Day, Memorial Day, and other holidays are a way to try.
When we’re writing
fiction, we might show how a family or community celebrates sacrifice. Or we
might show a grateful character whose life is changed by someone’s sacrifice
for them.
We might write an article
about someone who’s sacrifice has gone unnoticed. Or we could write an essay
about what someone’s sacrifice did for us. We could even write greeting cards
for those holidays or thank you cards for heroes who don’t have a holiday.
