Exodus 19:16 "And it
came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and
lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet
exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled."
A fanfare plays when a
king or president of a country arrives at a gathering. It even happens in
movies or on television—who doesn’t recognize Darth Vader’s theme music?
Writing a fanfare in a
story is a little trickier. We’re unlikely to need as dramatic an appearance as
the Lord’s in today’s passage.
It doesn’t have to be music or thunder. We can use other things, like a perfume scent that precedes a character into a room, or a stomping walk other characters can hear that tells them a certain character is coming. Used sparingly, it can be a fun way to add to a character’s traits.
