Psalms 57:3 "He shall
send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me
up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth."
When we have delayed
gratification in our lives, it’s very frustrating. We do everything we can to
make things happen faster.
But delayed gratification
is a must in fiction. Our characters have to struggle hard for their reward or
the story fizzles too soon.
Our readers stay
interested when they are frustrated by the story’s delayed gratification. They’ll do
anything they can to make things happen faster—like keep reading until the end.
